The story began last November, in a secret studio in Tours where about ten groups are working (including Boogers, Piano Chat, Pneu, Mesparrow or Funken) and where everything is shared… As he was jamming on a remix of Bosco he could not finish, Rubin Steiner only had to go to the room next door and ask Funken and Ira Lee to set up a true-false group (The Motherbeepers) so they could end the piece. In the bottom line, Ira Lee came back the following month during two days and the two mates recorded 15 tracks, 10 of whom appear on this album. Required theme : dance, hip-hop, music and spontaneity. Mission accomplished!
The insistence of Ira Lee’s multimedia exploration, is based around the dark humour and absurdity involved in dysfunctional childhoods, mental disorders, social stigmatism, racial, sexual, and cultural ambiguity. Themes often incorporated into surrealist, non-linear processes presented experimentally as fragmented collages that take advantage of the obscure. Ira Lee’s disconcerting atmosphere of contradictory form and execution clearly comes from an imaginative space. Shut away from the ordinary world of tedious responsibility, free from the incursions and assassinations of mathematics. Interested in pushing humour to it’s furthest tragedy, Ira Lee must be taken seriously for exercising uncompromising imagery that merges pictures, sound, and characters into a primordial visceral.
